tELLING THE stories of purposeful people…

You can take the girl out of regional Australia, but chances are she'll come home decades later with a fire in her belly, a pen in her hand and a longing to share our sunburnt stories. That’s me, Steph, a born and bred Armidalian who moved home to Armidale, NSW after almost 20 years working in the Australian media industry, including roles with Fairfax Digital and Mahlab. Once back on solid regional ground, I launched my own quarterly print publication, FOUND Regional, which has 10 glorious issues to its name. Today, I'm a freelance writer, editor and founder of hyperlocal digital media platform REGGIE. Here’s a bit more info about those media babies of mine…

REGGIE
FOUND Regional magazine’s original website served as the testing ground for REGGIE, a digital media platform I launched in November 2024 for the ever-curious, ever-adventurous, ever-growing audience eager to rub shoulders with regional NSW. Short for ‘regional', REGGIE is your bezzie mate, the one who knows where to eat, drink, stay and play in the New England North West.

FOUND REGIONAL
In 2022 I launched FOUND Regional magazine, a 100-page, quarterly print publication that grew a readership of 80,000 in its three-year lifespan and told stories of the many wondrous things happening in regional NSW. From people to businesses, events to community causes, the mag’s pages celebrated, uplifted and did good. In year one, it was shortlisted for Publication of the Year at the Mumbrella Publish Awards 2023 and the issue four cover story I wrote was shortlisted for Single Article of the Year.

ME
I grew up in the kind of cul-de-sac that was bloody perfect for BMX riding. My walkman was my most prized possession, along with my hypercolour t-shirt... yep, I was a child of the 80s. Fast forward to my late teens, when I obsessively memorised HSC essays to get the magical UAI number needed to study journalism at Newcastle University and had the permanent ink stain on my left hand to prove it. Did I need to be such a stress head about the whole thing? Probably not – but when I’m in, I’m ALL in. So if you’re searching for a content strategist / writer type person with that kind of (borderline obsessive) vibe, I’m your gal.
